We had a quiet Christmas here as it was kind of hard to get in the festive mood. Jon and I decided to skip presents this year as there was nothing really we wanted other than to spend Christmas together and with the piggies. We visited my family for a while during the day, where I got some lovely socks and pjs together with far too much money, and then came back home for our traditional Indian food and watched the Gruffalo and Doctor Who on the box. (The Master was looking very, very hot!)
I've been working lots, but Jon is off work for the holidays and has been showering the girls with attention. Mood wise I've been fine, it's just that things are a little subdued.
I do have some pigtures to share though :)
I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who commented and sent me messages of condolence and just general good thoughts - it made things a lot easier for me in the harder times, and I wish I could respond to you all personally, it's just really difficult for me to go back to those entries right now *hugs*
 "EEEP!"

Christmas is just tomorrow! And as usual, I'm excited for it!! Just am I'm excited for my birthday on Saturday!!! hehehehe! So anyway, I attended a Christmas Party hosted by Matthew with the council people! It's such a huge party that the whole function room was noisy all the time! It was Potluck Party so I decided to bring desserts! Made Rum Balls and everyone got intoxicated! Okay, not really intoxicated. But received comments that there's too much rum! haha! But it's supposed to taste like that! I've tried it many many times in the past, and it's soooo expensive to buy it outside!! So much cheaper to make it yourself, and it's so easy! :) Okay, back to the party. Was late, and only arrived at like 8.45pm, and most of the food was gone!!! ): Luckily there's still people coming in, so that food table was replenished all the time! But I wasn't that hungry, so I didn't eat much. I brought back food though! Cos there's like so much left and nobody wants to bring them back, so I took them! hehe! Here are the random photos that I took before the games started! :) And then the games started! We were divided into the 2 groups - Red and Green. Many of us wore Red, so we had a very very big group! Sadly we didn't win any, but we brought back loads of fun!! :) Red team! Green team! The first game was to line items up from A-Z, but with 3 items from Red and Green each. It was a fairly easy game, but it was dependent on your speed. Being a group with many many people, all of us were throwing ideas that there was chaos! hahaha! But it was sooo fun laughing and trying to take part in the game! The green team won! The next game was to have 2 couples from each team, and these 2 couples have to bit a dangling apple! We were so good at cheating that we finished the apples first, but still lost in the end due to cheating! haha! The first 2 groups of "scapegoats". After all the games ended, it was gift exchange!! I bought a sparkling wine for the gift exchange cos I forgot to bring my gift over, as usual! ): Gift exchange part was kinda rush cos the security guard was chasing us out!! ): The losers of the night! Ended the night off by cleaning up the place, saying our goodbyes and that was it! A fun-filled night with awesome people!! &&& I can't wait for our X'mas Party with the girls and guys later!!!! :D :D :D Will update about Phuket Day 2 soonest! :) |

Hello! It's time for me to update about our AWESOME trip to Phuket!!!!! :) :) BUT, smart me deleted all the photos that I've edited, and because I am too lazy to edit them again, I have to grab them from my facebook. Hence, the lousy quality. ): ): But still! You can enjoy the beautiful photos we took of the beautiful place! :)
Met up with guys and girls at 5pm at Changi Airport to check in our luggage. Quite sad that we couldn't get an earlier flight, because by the time we reached Phuket, it was already 7plus, and there's nothing much we can do. ):
Anyway, here's the awesome view from my seat. We took SilkAir so there's food!! Not like louya-pok Tiger Airways, which provides NO food(okay, I know you can buy from them, but I refuse to!). FYI, Tiger Airways tickets were more expensive that SilkAir! How can it be called budget airline man?? Hmmm....
Beautiful sunset!
Our food!
Some fish with rice. Yummy!
Chicken with noodles. The carrots were reallyyyy yummy. It was kind of chewy? I wonder why..
Upon reaching Phuket, we took the shuttled bus to our hotel which was just 20mins away from the airport! Our hotel was called Marriott Vacation Club, and it was totally AWESOME. You will see why later! :) :)
We were greeted by the staff with sweet-smelling jasmine and orchid garlands!
The magnificent 4 with Bea's sister, Rachel!
 Bea's family!
Enjoying sweet icy cold watermelon juice!
And now photos of the hotel!! Here's the club's view at night!
Went up to our room, and all of us were in awe when we first stepped into the room!! We had a suite so it was uber big!!
 The view from our room!
& our rooms!

Decided to grab a bite after checking in, and we went to Turtle Village, this little shopping area that's just beside our hotel! It's called Turtle Village because it's just beside Mai Khao Beach in Phuket, and that's the nesting area for the sea turtles! It was the nesting season while we were there, but we didn't go and try to see the turtles. It would be great if we did and saw some though! But it's a wait and see thing, so you might not be able to catch on cos you'll never know when the turtles are coming up to shore.

Settled for some food at The Coffee Club, and the food there was good! Especially the Phad Thai and Tom Yum Soup! It was just DELICIOUS, and you can never get the same type of taste here in Singapore!

& the food arrives!!

After having a sumptuous meal, we hopped over to Swensen's for some ice-cream! & let me tell you about Thailand's Swensen's! The flavours and ice-cream menu is the same, but, it tastes soooooooo much better than Singapore's! I tried it in Bangkok and remembered ever since. It's so much more rich and creamy than Sg's, and so cheap!! Next time if you ever do stumble upon a Swensen's in Thailand, remember to try it!! :D :D
Sticky Chewy Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake! Yummy!!!!!!
 Enjoying our ice-cream!
Chatted for a little while while enjoying our ice-cream before heading back to the hotel for some rest, and that concludes our first day in Phuket! Will blog about the 2nd day soon! :) :) |

Thank you everyone for the kind words and condolences. I don't think it has quite sunk in yet, sometimes it has, sometimes it hasn't. I had work yesterday and my night out which pushed everything away until I was on the bus home.
Today my mum is taking us to the local gardening centre. We're going to find a really nice pot and a plant that Brie would like, and bury her. My mum will keep the pot in her garden I think until we move and can take her with us. I want to get a pot big enough so that many years from now Frisky and Brie can be together.
I couldn't bear the thought of cremation, or of burying her somewhere that might get left behind. A pot was a suggestion from Wendi at Thistle Cavies, who has been a total rock through all of this. She responded to all my e-mails night and day to try and save Brie, but in the end we think something was going on underneath that just couldn't be stopped. Brie and Frisky were part of a large rescue from a tourist attraction and many of their relatives have also had short lives. But happy lives.
In a way it is a blessing that it happened so fast. A week before she died she was running around the living room at the top speed only she can achieve, playing with the curtains and joining any piggie walking past for an impromptu piggie train.
Our hearts are broken, and the house feels so empty. The piggie pen feels like there is a huge presence missing and I worry about Frisky having lost her sister. She'll get lots of cuddles and treats today, as will all the girls.
I just can't believe she's really gone. |

| Brie |
[Dec. 18th, 2009|10:41 pm] |
Brie passed away in my arms at 10pm this evening. Her breathing had slowed and Jon said she looked like she had hiccups. I thought that might be the seizing that I know happens near the end so I just held her and stroked her and told her what a good girl she is and that I was so sorry. |

| Brie has bloat :/ |
[Dec. 17th, 2009|02:07 pm] |
Brie has been ill the last few days, which is why I haven't been around.
( Brie has bloat )
I think I need to go back to the vets and get an oral dose of the metoclopromide as I keep holding off on the injections when she is doing better as they are so traumatic (she's started acting skittish of me and Jon which is so not like Brie) and then of course she starts to get worse again. The vet said the oral metoclopromide wasn't quite as effective but surely now that is producing poos, albeit infrequently, that should be okay? I've asked both Guinea Lynx and Wendi for confirmation on that.
Yesterday she was doing quite well, drinking by herself and she looked much less bloated. Today though she's been sitting not moving around much again :/
Her weight is 1000g, 2lb 3.25oz which is a whole 8oz less than her usual weight though we were recently trying to bring her weight down a little to help with her gassy problems - though not this much. It has happened so fast.
She's been really good with her hand feedings, bless her, but the injections are just horrific. Not so much for Brie, but they make me feel ill giving them to her :/ |
